Natural vs lab-grown diamonds
The same material, formed two very different ways. For a retailer the real distinction is not chemistry but rarity, value retention and disclosure. Kiran trades in natural diamonds.

What it means for margin and resale
Lab-grown carries a lower buy-in and, for now, a higher percentage markup, which suits a fashion price point. The trade-off sits on the back end: falling wholesale prices compress resale, trade-in and repair-replacement values, and a client who paid this year may see a lower figure next year. A natural stone anchors an heirloom position and a valuation that holds, which is the story most fine-jewelry retailers are built on.
Disclosure and nomenclature
Trade rules are firm: a grown stone must be described as laboratory-grown, lab-grown or synthetic, and the word natural, or an unqualified diamond, is reserved for mined stones. Getting this right protects the retailer as much as the client. Kiran labels every line by origin so the disclosure travels intact from our invoice to the counter.

Common questions
Can a jeweller tell natural and lab-grown apart?
Not by eye, since both are crystallised carbon with the same optical properties. They are separated by laboratory instruments that read growth patterns and trace elements, and every graded stone is identified on its report as natural or laboratory-grown.
Do lab-grown diamonds hold their value?
Generally no. Because they can be produced at scale, wholesale and resale prices have fallen steadily as capacity has grown. Natural diamonds are finite, which is why they hold rarity and provenance value over time.
How must lab-grown be disclosed at point of sale?
Clearly and in writing. Trade guidance requires the term “laboratory-grown”, “lab-grown” or “synthetic”; “natural” or an unqualified “diamond” may not be used for grown stones. Kiran labels every line by origin so the disclosure carries through to the retailer.
